Biking and Hiking

Central Coastal Florida has a myriad of trails designed for hiking through canopied hundred plus year old forests and wetlands. This 3,084 acre conservation area is the most recent addition to Flagler County's preserves. It is owned by the St. Johns River Water Management District and managed by Flagler County.

From historic Bulow Plantation, to Graham Swamp, Washington Oaks, Flagship Harbor and Moody Boat Launch, Princess Place Preserve and River to Sea Preserve in the Northern section of the county, numerous hiking and bike paths await you with each having a different view of Florida. Jog along the lovely St. Joe's Parkway from the European Village Resort to the Daytona Beach Community College. In St. John's County, you can bike along the barrier islands or walk or jog along the various gardens and parks in Old St. Augustine, or even enjoy the lovely landscaping at the World Golf Village. In Volusia County you can hike along many paths on the Tomoka River on down to the St. John's River through all three counties.
The area supports a rich variety of wading birds, water fowl and passerine bird species, as well as deer, otter, fox, and alligators. An occasional glimpse of the Florida panther or wild boar is also part of the area's exciting wildlife calliope.
